NTC Rocket League Team Wins NECC Fall Cup Final
Northcentral Technical College’s (NTC) Esports Blue Rocket League team won its first conference championship in program history on December 9, 2022. NTC defeated Lincoln Loggers Community College from Springfield, Ill. in the Emergent Division National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Finals in a 4:1, best-of-seven series.
NTC’s Blue Rocket League team established itself as the dominant team during the fall season with an undefeated record. The team was seeded #1 and rolled through the playoffs easily, securing a spot in the championship final. The first three games of the final series were fierce with NTC capturing the first game 4-2 and the second game 3-2. Lincoln bounced back by winning the third game 3-2, but the win was short-lived as NTC dominated the last two matches, winning 5-2 and 7-0 respectively. It was the culmination of a great season for NTC’s Blue Rocket League team.
The star player of the series was NTC Team Captain, Alex Kruegz Krueger. Krueger led the team in shots, goals and assists; 25, 9 and 8 respectively. Reilly “Nutmeg” Nutting and Dom “Stank” Tinker, were not too far behind in the stats, each having 6 goals. The team won the match with solid fundamentals and superb passing plays.
“The Blue team showed complete dominance throughout the season and playoffs,” said Tyler Meitz, NTC’s Rocket League Coach. “NTC showed NECC why they were incorrect for moving the team down a division last semester with an incredible undefeated season.”
The team was recently promoted to NECC’s Challengers Midwest Division for spring 2023 competition.
